FAQs
Depending on your insurance, you may need to have a physician’s order to initiate the referral process. Call our office directly at 980-422-5887 or complete in the enrollment form online. One of our referral coordinators will be happy to help you get started!
Begin by acquainting yourself with age-specific developmental milestones (Milestone Checker). These milestones act as a reference point, aiding in your comprehension of the expected communication skills within your child’s age group. It’s important to recognize that developmental milestones are not precise, and a child may exhibit emerging skills that don’t necessarily indicate a delay in development.
Our ACT NOW community outreach initiative simplifies the process for parents questioning potential developmental differences in their child. Feel free to reach out to our office to schedule a complimentary 15-minute ACT NOW developmental screening. Why wait when you can ACT NOW!
Yes you can! In fact, parents/caregivers are key members of the child’s care team and are essential to the therapeutic process. At Speech Tactics, we encourage our parents/caregivers to be actively engaged in the therapy process with post-session recaps, take-home activities, and in-session trainings. We want to empower our parents/caregivers to be their child’s strongest advocate!
An interdisciplinary therapy team refers to a group of professionals from different disciplines or fields of expertise who collaborate to provide comprehensive and holistic care or treatment for an individual. Each team member brings their unique skills, knowledge, and perspective to address various aspects of a child’s well-being. At Speech Tactics we believe this multifaceted approach is necessary to address the complex needs of not only the child, but the entire family.
Our interdisciplinary therapy team might include professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, behavioral analyst, parents, physicians, and educators. The team collaborates to create a coordinated and integrated treatment plan that considers various aspects of the child’s development, such as communication, motor skills, emotional well-being, and educational needs.
The goal of an interdisciplinary therapy team is to leverage the expertise of individuals from different fields to provide more effective and holistic care than could be achieved by a single professional working in isolation. This collaborative approach acknowledges the interconnected nature of various aspects of our clients’ overall health and well-being.
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the therapy process, what programs do you have to support parents?
We know the challenges and stress that many parents face as they strive to provide their child with the necessary services for growth and development. Parents want to do the best they can when it comes to their child. However, the constant questioning of whether one is doing enough can be overwhelming at times. The mere fact that you are reading this suggests that you are making commendable efforts and moving in the right direction! We don’t expect you to know it all- so there is no judgement here! At Speech Tactics we want our parents to know that we support them at every step in the process. All of our families at Speech Tactics have the opportunity to access counseling services through our clinical psychologist and participate in our parent support group, PRESS. It’s important to recognize that you are not alone in this journey!
Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) is a specialized branch of occupational therapy that focuses on assessing and addressing the unique needs of children from infancy through adolescence. Pediatric occupational therapists work with children to promote and enhance their development, well-being, and participation in various daily living activities.
You child might be referred for OT services to address sensory concerns, emotional regulation, fine motor skills (such as hand-eye coordination and precision in activities like writing) and gross motor skills (involving larger muscle groups for activities like crawling, walking, and coordination), self-care tasks like dressing, feeding, and grooming.
Our occupational therapists use play-based interventions to enhance a child’s social, cognitive, and motor skills while promoting creativity and imagination. Additionally, OT address school performance challenges related to attention, organization, handwriting, and other skills necessary for academic success.
At Speech Tactics, we integrate ABA services among various therapeutic interventions to assist neurodivergent clients with Autism. While we adhere to the evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis, our approach emphasizes naturalistic learning opportunities for children. The therapeutic environment at Speech Tactics is thoughtfully designed to replicate real-life settings, ensuring that children progress through their ABA program while acquiring skills that seamlessly translate to their daily lives outside of therapy. This unique approach sets Speech Tactics apart from other providers!
We recognize the financial challenges that can arise when covering therapy expenses, even with commercial insurance. Understanding the eligibility and coverage details of your plan is important in determining your financial obligations. Pediatric therapy coverage with commercial insurance plans can be complex, with various factors like unmet deductibles, diagnosis exclusions, visit limits, and other limitations. Our insurance specialist conducts a thorough eligibility and benefits check for each client during the intake process, ensuring transparency regarding financial obligations- however, our final determination of client responsibility is based on the insurance explanation of benefits. Clients are informed of their responsibilities and are required to provide consent before starting therapy. If you have inquiries about insurance or billing, please reach out to our billing/insurance manager for assistance.
Psychological evaluative and therapy services were add to our service delivery model in 2023. Our licensed mental health professionals provide individual counseling, adolescent counseling, family counseling, sibling counseling, multi-family group counseling, play therapy and so much more. We offer assessment and evaluation services that include comprehensive psychological evaluations, psychoeducational evaluations, neurodevelopmental evaluations, gifted evaluations, and independent educational evaluations.
At Speech Tactics, we are committed to our mission of positively impacting the lives of children and families in our community. As part of our dedication to serving those in need, we proudly allocate a portion of our clinical service hours to pro bono work. We believe that every child and family deserves access to high-quality therapy services, regardless of their financial circumstances. Our pro bono service commitment ensures that families who may not otherwise have access to essential therapeutic services can receive the support they need to thrive. At Speech Tactics, we are not just providers—we are partners in your child’s journey to well-being and success. We are partners in the community!

Me and my son love this place. We started coming here 10 months ago & he has made tremendous progress. He started off not saying a word ; and now he saying words here and there. I didn't think he would talk at all. This clinic treats you like family and always keep you updated with anything that's going on and answer any questions you need.
