There is a growing, and pressing, need to address the mental health care disparities across the nation. Not just individually for the children we treat at Speech Tactics, but for our diverse families and communities as well. This exciting expansion to our service delivery model allows us to take a whole-person approach by identifying the strengths, challenges, and barriers to success for the child’s entire support system- the family! Our mental health professionals use a holistic and culturally responsive frame work to evaluate and development therapy plans that support the psychological, social, and emotional well-being of the family as a whole.

Psychological Evaluation Services

Diagnostic Intake

The Diagnostic Intake is the initial evaluation or assessment conducted by a mental health professional to gather information about a client’s presenting concerns, symptoms, and relevant background information. This process assessment is important for formulating an accurate diagnosis and developing an appropriate treatment plan. Click here to read more.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations involve a combination of interviews, standardized psychological tests, observations, and assessments to gather relevant information about the individual’s mental health. The results of a clinical psychological evaluation are used to make accurate diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and provide recommendations for therapeutic interventions or support services to address the individual’s unique needs.

Neurodevelopmental Evaluations

Neurodevelopmental evaluations assess a child’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development. These evaluations aid in understanding the child’s overall functioning and provide valuable insights for intervention planning, such as additional recommendations for Speech, OT, PT, and/or ABA therapy.

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)

We work with parents, schools, and educational organizations to offer comprehensive educational testing to assess a child’s learning strengths and challenges. This evaluation helps in identifying any learning disabilities or learning differences that may affect academic performance. The results of an IEE may be used in developing a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

Gifted Evaluations

Gifted evaluations consist of a standard intelligence test, which provides a quantitative measure of the child’s verbal and non-verbal intelligence level. Gifted evaluations are requested when planning for a child’s future academic placement, as a screener for the potential cause of academic problems, to qualify a child for advanced classes in school, or to include the results as part of an application for admittance to exclusive educational opportunities. This service is not covered by insurance and therefore is a private pay service. Gifted evaluations are performed by the licensed psychologist over a single session.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a powerful therapeutic approach for children, as it allows them to express themselves and process emotions through play. Our trained therapists use play-based techniques to address emotional and behavioral challenges effectively.

Family Counseling

We believe in a holistic approach to therapy and recognize the importance of family dynamics. Our family therapy sessions foster communication, understanding, and support among family members, aiming to improve relationships and overall well-being.

Group Therapy

Group therapy provides children and adolescents with a supportive social environment where they can learn from one another, develop social skills, and explore shared experiences.

Culturally Responsive Counseling

Our team values diversity and offers counseling services that are inclusive and culturally sensitive. We strive to create a safe space where individuals from various backgrounds can feel understood and supported.

Crisis Intervention

In times of crisis, our team is prepared to provide immediate support and intervention to help children and families navigate difficult situations and emotions.

Trauma-Focused Psychotherapy

Our trained psychologists work with children who have experienced trauma. We use evidence-based approaches to help children process their trauma and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT teaches children to identify and modify negative thought patterns and behaviors. This specialized therapy intervention promotes positive coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.
